TREVOR MIJARES

Trevor Mijares, a native of the San Francisco Bay Area has over the years made his positive mark on the Dance Music community. He has excited hundreds of crowds on dance floors for over a decade. When Trevor plays his dynamic DJ sets today, House Music lovers are always treated to an outstanding and unforgettable musical experience with his solid programming and smooth technical mixing. Trevor has become a hero for the DJ and Dance Community by continually providing House Music audiophiles with new music that over flows with melody rich jazziness, inspiring vocals, spiritual soul, booty shaking funk and tough-ass grooves!!

His musical influences are many but the two very different genres of Freestyle and Smooth Jazz influenced him heavily. He first started DJing during the mid 1980's, the time of Freestyle. He was attracted to Freestyle music as a DJ because of its upbeat tempo. That musical influence is evident in his sets today as he always incorporates into his performances, House tracks and Œsongs‚ that are uplifting and upbeat. Because of his love for Smooth Jazz, he was prompted to learn how to play the saxophone in the early 1990‚s. While learning how to play the saxophone and while playing in a local jazz band, he gained a deeper understanding of how music can create wonderful feelings and emotions for a listener with its complex rhythms, structure and arrangement. This understanding affects his selection of music and programming greatly because he uses that musical knowledge to create positive emotions and varying moods in his sets and music productions. This musical background also encouraged Trevor to go beynd being a DJ and got himinvolved in the production side of House Music.

At the beginning of 2003, he started his own label named Audio Influence Recordings with production partner Neil Verzosa. Trevor initially used the label as an outlet to produce remixes. His work includes personal remixes of tracks by Brothers Johnson, Instant Funk, the Groove Junkies and Morris Day and the Time. The dance floor success of these remixes then geared up Trevor to create his own original music. His first original work „Feel Bettah‰ is set to be released in early 2004 under the Audio Influence label. This funk driven track is a collaboration with the lovely vocalist Tracy Baumbach.

"House is more than music, for those who really understand House, it's a beautiful way of life."
